Historical Artifacts Discovered in Restoration of Hotel Pekin in Moscow

As work continues on the renovation of the Hotel Pekin on Moscow's Bolshaya Sadovaya Street, archaeolgosits are working along side builders. 

Archaeological director Vladimir Berkovich said, "This site has never been studied by archaeologists." So far over 350 artifacts dating back to the 17th-19th century, sheding light on the everyday life of centuries past.

The items found, where a staging post once stood, included a leather bag, wooden tools, furniture, footwear, and a variety of ceramics.

Discoveries likes this have occured often when rennovating Moscow's old buildings.
