The Saint Alexander Nevskiy Cathedral is the highest cathedral in the city: 87 meters. It was constructed in the memory of the emperor Alexander the II's visit to the trade fair. It took ten years to collect the funds and begin the construction; the building began in 1868. However, the initial project was canceled due to lack of finance, so there were several revisions before the final version was approved.
The process of construction took more than 13 years. It did not have a regular parish and was visited by merchants arriving at fair trades. it also served for ceremonial receptions.
Today the cathedral keeps a range of unique sacred objects. One of the key things that we can include in the must-see list is the four-meter bell that weighs 60 tons; you will be also impressed by the bells ringing.
