St. Petersburg to Tallinn

Train Service from St. Petersburg to Tallinn, Estonia.

For the first time in four years a train left from St. Petersburg headed for Tallinn, Estonia this week. The route, which was cancelled four years ago due to low demand as well as other technical and economic issues, has been reopened this week by the Go Rail company.

In the past four years travelers have car, bus or ferry to reach Tallinn. But due to a sharp increase in interest in traveling to Tallinn over the past few years, Go Rail has decided to reopen the route. The Russian Travel Industry Union reports that the number of tourists traveling to Estonia is growing by an anual rate of 15-20%.

The trip on the new train takes about 7 hours, leaving St. Petersburg once a day at 17:32 from the Vitebsky Railway Station, and departs Tallinn's Baltic Station for St. Petersburg at 7:03 a.m.

The train can seat up to 204 travelers and has both first and second class cabins, as well as a restaurant car and wireless internet access. The price of a one way ticket starts from 25 Euro, approximately $31.
