On Monday, 6th of March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has announced that Visa will be no longer required for traveling between Russia and the Republic of South Africa starting from 30th of March.

The exhibition "The Masterpieces of Byzantine" is on a display in Tretyakov Gallery. Eighteen art works were brought to Moscow from Greek collections. The art of Byzantium is perceived to be close to the Russian soul, as, during the process of Christianization, Ancient Rus has adopted traditions of icon painting, temple architecture and the language of the liturgy from the Byzantine Empire.

The masterpieces from the collection of the Vatican Pinacoteca are on display in the Tretyakov Gallery
The most significant event of the passing year was the opening of the exhibition "Roma Aeterna. The masterpieces of the Vatican Pinacoteca. Bellini, Raphael, Caravaggio", which is held in the Tretyakov Gallery from 25th of November. In total, 42 art pieces from the permanent exposition was brought to Moscow, among which are works of Giovanni Bellini, Raphael, Caravaggio, Nicolas Poussin, Perugino, Melozzo da Forlì, Guido Reni and Guercino. Some of the works have never left the Vatican before, or have not been displayed outside Europe.

The Catalonian Surrealism in the Hermitage Museum
Starting from 29th of October 2016, the exhibition "Surrealism in Catalonia. The artists of Emporda and Salvador Dali" was opened in the Hermitage Museum. The works of Salvador Dali and 28 other catalonian painters were brought to Russia. The paintings, sculptures and graphic art from 19th to 20th century are on the display.

Mariinsky Theatre in Japan. The biggest in the theatre's history tour across countries of the Asia-Pacific Region will last one month. The diverse program include the Russian and foreign classical music, among which are compositions of Sergey Prokofiev and Dmitry Shostakovich. Already today the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre, under the supervision of Valery Gergiev, will perform the dramatic symphony of Hector Berlioz "Romeo et Juliette".

The reopening of the New Holland island in St. Petersburg
On 27th of August the open-air space of the "New Holland" will be reopened for the public. During the two days of celebration the variety of activities will be organized on the island. The program includes the exposition of the contemporary art museum "Garage" under the name "Sensitive experiences", and the performance of the street orchestra "Mosbras". The application "Get to Know Moscow.Photo" will work as Pokemon Go
The Moscow's Department of Information Technologies has developed the analogue application to the Pokemon Go game. The new application can be found under the name "Get To Know Moscow.Photo", where users, in order to achieve something in the game, follow the same action pattern as users of Pokemon Go. The task of the new application is to find and make selfies with the historical figures scattered across Moscow city, among which are: Yuri Gagarin, Alexander Pushkin, Peter Tchaikovsky, Mikhail Lomonosov, Ivan the Terrible, Peter I, Napoleon Bonaparte, Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich.
